On the eve of his arrival in Des Moines, Drake (the rapper) dropped a hint on Instagram as to if he’ll finally unite with Drake (the university) before his scheduled performance at Wells Fargo Arena.
Drake University posted a parody photo on Instagram of Drake posing on campus. The photo caption reads “This could be you tomorrow (Drake). With our mums currently in bloom, that’s a frame-worthy photo.”
Here’s where things get interesting: Drake commented on the photo. His comment (under username @champagnepapi) reads “I’mma pull up on ya,” proving a tease to fans on if plans to visit.
The comment is the first the rapper has made on the possibility of visiting campus.
The photo is part of the #BringDraketoDrake social media campaign that the university, its students and even its president put forth in hopes of bringing the award-winning performer to the campus that shares his name. Launched by students in 2009, #BringDraketoDrake ramped up in May, when the superstar announced he would be bringing his “Summer Sixteen” tour to Des Moines on Oct. 4 alongside famed rapper Future.
The photo is one of two the university has posted in the last week in hopes of grabbing Drake’s attention.
Drake University representatives said Drizzy followed the school on Instagram after apress release issued by the university in May went viral, being picked up by national media sites like MTV, Entertainment Weekly and People.com.
Last week, students produced and posted a video inviting Drake to visit campus while dancing to hit single “One Dance.”
